THIS SITE
This site is my bethel art portfolio. About me, samples of work, demonstrations of what I have set as goals to learn in the realm of animation.
When Bethel’s call for artists and animators went out at the end of 2015, I prayerfully (and rather hurriedly) sent in a submission in February 2016. My online portfolio at the time was a crude conglomeration on a password-protected page of my commercial art website. This site is, hopefully, a major improvement.
WHY “PINCH & CINCH”?
Both ‘pinch’ and ‘cinch’ connote a variety of things. Ease and reward: Finish in a pinch, add a pinch of salt. Make a cinch of a task, cinch a decision. Or by contrast, more confined circumstance: Pinch a penny, cinch a belt, or pinched for time. We all slide back and forth within the spectrum of those meanings.
“Pinch and Cinch” is a reminder to myself, not only to focus on the real life, but that I have a measure of control over where my family and I can land in the sliding scale of happy. There are lots of ways to live, to simplify and find success in life. For me, making room for the more important things means that the priority of making art shifts up and down my to-do list as my circumstances shift.
With art, I am reminded that the beauty of things made has been put into my heart by the original artist that is Love. He asks us to simplify our eyes and lives so we can use the room gained to add richness and meaning to life. So here I am, learning the things, pinched for time, cinched at the hips with a belt of faith, and hoping to honor Jehovah with what I love.
